One of the best places to buy seafood in Adelaide is at the market. There are three places to choose from. Angelakis Bros is the largest and sells Seafood, Poultry and Game. One side is Seafood, the other is poultry etc
The seafood available is varied. This includes shellfish, squid, octopus, crayfish (lobster) as well as more common varieties including Salmon, mullet, Tommy Ruff and deep sea pearch.
Most of the produce is locally caught and sold at market the same day.

Adelaide Central Market
This is my most favourite place in the World. The Adelaide Central market is unique to Adelaide, and although there are similar Markets, nowhere else has the atmosphere and ambience of 'The Market'. I first started coming to the market when I was a very young child in the 1960's with my parents who were avid market shoppers. After they moved to the country, taking me with them we regularly visited the market on trips back to Adelaide.
The fruit and Veg are always of the freshest and best quality - no holding in long storage here, unlike many of the supermarkets who have been reported as holding produce for months at a time in cold storage.
This is my favourite place to eat breakfast and drink coffee. Lucias is one of the oldest cafe's in the market and serves traditional Italian food. Their Bruschetta is generous and delicious using fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic and peppery Olive Oil.
The market has some amazing continental food too. Marino Continental Deli is a small shop packed with a huge selection of Italian Ingredients including pasta, tinned food, olive oils, vinegars, cakes, biscuits, coffee supplies and household goods.
They also have a fabulous butcher and make amazing prosciutto, salami and other smallgoods.
MacMahons is where I do the majority of my fruit and veg shopping. They have amazing first grade produce and I have never had an issue with their produce.
Their staff are also just brilliant and are always friendly and good for a laugh. This is Pat who has worked at the market for about 40 years. A wonderful lady, I look forward to seeing her and the other staff every week.
There is also a good range of organic produce available with prices that are comparable and competitive to non organic produce. Mnay other states and even supermarkets that sell Organic Produce sell it at inflated prices, yet at the market you may pay about 10% more (if that) for your Organic products.
This is only one of the Organic Stalls and is a more recent addition in the last four or five years, there is one other (not photographed) that has been at the market since the seventies.
The Market has always been famous for cheese. Many of the cheese shops here have had imported cheeses from all over the world. Parmigiano Reggiano, Roquefort and different varieties of Cow, goat and sheep cheeses from all over the world can be found at the many cheese stalls.
The cheese stalls also have a huge range of Australian Cheeses made by small Independant Cheesemakers from the Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills, Tasmania, Victoria and other boutique cheesewrights.
